Core Curriculum

Developing and maintaining a solid, standards-based core curriculum that aligns with state grade-level expectations is the District’s most basic requirement. Washington State has developed Essential Academic Learning Requirements (EALRs) for all content areas (initially developed beginning with the Basic Education Act of 1993), and those EALRs describe learning standards for grades K-10 at three benchmark levels; elementary, middle, and high school.

The Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction's Curriculum and Instruction web pages contain in-depth information and resources related to the Essential Academic Learning Requirements and Grade Level Expectations.
